According to http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/rods all rods are introduced in "Ultimate Equipment", but according to http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/item-creation-feats the crafting rods is defined in the core rules (even though there would be nothing to craft). Could you please correct the item data (tables and pages) if my logic is not flawed? Thank you!

The 'normal' metamagic rods that purely duplicate the metamagic feats are mostly in the Core book. The exception being a metamagic feat that was introduced in a later book (such as merciful) which appear in the table mentioned.
